Dubai Visa Exit Guarantee: Rules, Refunds & Overstay Charges
When UTM may request a refundable exit guarantee, what it covers, and how it is returned.
What is the Dubai visa Exit Guarantee?
An Exit Guarantee is a refundable amount that UTM Travel & Visa may request for certain Dubai tourist visa applications. It helps protect against immigration-related liabilities and case-handling costs if a traveler overstays or does not comply with the conditions of their visa. This is a UTM case-by-case requirement, not a compulsory charge for every UAE visitor.
Travel within the permitted stay
You must leave the UAE or obtain an authorized extension or status adjustment before the permitted stay expires. An application for an extension does not itself authorize an overstay.
What happens if you overstay in Dubai?
Two different types of costs may arise. They should not be confused with the refundable Exit Guarantee.
Immigration overstay fines and departure charges
The UAE's ICP publishes a general overstay fine of AED 50 per day. Your actual payable amount, any applicable grace period, and additional departure-permit charges must be verified with the authority responsible for your visa. Charges and procedures may differ by individual case; do not assume a fixed airport fee.

Immigration irregularity and UTM case-handling costs
An overstay may also create immigration-related liabilities or case-handling expenses for UTM as the visa service provider. Where such costs actually arise, the Exit Guarantee is intended to help cover them. This does not replace fines that the traveler may owe directly to immigration.
Is the Exit Guarantee required for everyone?
No. UTM evaluates each application individually and may waive the guarantee based on the traveler’s circumstances and travel history. The amount, if required, is communicated for the individual file.
