Dubai Visa Validity & Duration: Issue Date, Entry Expiry and Length of Stay

Understand the key dates on a UAE tourist or visit visa, with a sample visa and useful links.

If you've received a Dubai tourist visa or a UAE visit entry permit, you should distinguish the visa issue date, its entry validity or expiry date, and the permitted length of stay. The last day you can enter the UAE is not necessarily the last day you are allowed to remain in the country.

1

Date of Issue

This is the date your visa or entry permit was issued. Its entry-validity window is generally measured from this date, subject to the visa category and terms shown on the document.
Historical example in the sample document: 20/08/2023 is the issue date.
2

Valid Until — Last Date to Enter

This is the expiry of the entry-validity period—the window in which you must use the visa to enter the UAE. Some entry permits allow 60 days from issuance to enter, but the actual period depends on the visa type and issuing authority. Always check the expiry date printed on your visa and any explicitly stated time deadline before booking travel.
In the historical example below, 18/10/2023 is the entry-expiry date. These are illustrative dates, not the validity dates of your own visa.

Visa Duration — Permitted Length of Stay

This is the number of days you're permitted to remain after you enter the UAE. It differs from the entry-validity window. The permitted stay generally begins from actual entry and depends on the visa type and immigration decision.
In short: the Date of Issue helps determine when entry validity begins; Valid Until tells you the last permitted entry date; and Visa Duration is the allowed stay after entry.

Frequently asked questions about UAE visa validity

Is entry validity the same as the allowed stay?
No. Entry validity is the period available to arrive in the UAE before using the visa. Permitted stay is the period allowed after entry.

What if my visa's last entry date has passed?
Do not rely on an expired entry permit. Ask the issuing authority whether an extension is possible or a new visa is required.

Does the UTM calculator verify my visa's official status?
No. The UTM calculator is an estimate for trip planning, not a live check against government immigration records. Verify official validity with the relevant UAE authority.

UTM Travel & Visa is a private assistance service, not a government authority. Official visa records and immigration decisions take precedence over any illustrative calculation.
